France reviews · 4.9 / 5

★★★★★
"We went in October, Paris in autumn colour at Jardin du Luxembourg, olive harvest in Provence, the Riviera at its clearest. 20°C, fewer crowds than summer. Wanvela's timing was perfect."

★★★★★
"The TGV first-class ride south was unexpectedly special, quiet, fast, the countryside shifts from grey to gold over two hours. Versailles in the morning before the tour buses arrived, the Hall of Mirrors was empty. That was the highlight."
· September 2025 · group of 4
★★★★★
"I've been to France many times but this was the first trip where I got to watch the sun set from Eze without rushing on. The Seine cruise at night, when the Eiffel Tower sparkled at 9pm, an unforgettable honeymoon."

FAQ, France

Common questions

Why does Wanvela focus on shoulder season (Apr–Oct)?
Shoulder season is when France looks its best, April–May = spring blooms at Versailles, wild iris and poppies in Provence, a warm 20–25°C Riviera. September–October = autumn colour in Paris, olive harvest in Provence, the clearest Riviera of the year at 19–22°C. Crowds are far thinner than summer, and hotel and flight pricing is better. Peak summer (Jun–Aug) brings 30°C+ heat and crowded Paris, Wanvela steers clear.
When can I see Provence lavender?
Late June to mid-July only, a narrow window. After July 20 the harvest starts and colour fades; before June 25 the fields are still green. Wanvela can build a lavender-focused trip in that window. Our standard itinerary is shoulder-season focused and routes through hilltop villages (Gordes, Roussillon, Sénanque Abbey) which our team finds even more beautiful than the lavender fields themselves.
Are Versailles + Monaco + Eze included?
Versailles is included in the package (a Paris must-see). Monaco and Eze are an optional add-on, a Riviera day trip from Nice that bundles both, at an extra THB 8,000–12,000 / pax. If you'd rather skip Monaco we'll swap in another Riviera day at Cap Ferrat, Antibes, or Saint-Paul-de-Vence (artist village).
Why TGV instead of a domestic flight?
TGV first-class from Gare de Lyon to Avignon is 2 hours 40 minutes; Avignon to Nice is 3 hours. Faster than flying once you include airport time, and far more comfortable. It's a Wanvela signature, many travelers tell us it ends up being an unexpected highlight, with French countryside changing the whole way.
Can the route be modified?
Entirely. Add Bordeaux or the Loire Valley, swap Nice for Cannes/Antibes, extend Paris to 4 nights, or upgrade to 5-star palace hotels (Le Bristol, Hotel Negresco), just let us know.
How does the Schengen visa work?
Wanvela handles the entire Schengen process through VFS, documentation, appointment booking, tracking. If you've held a Schengen visa in the past 3 years the process is faster. The visa fee is included in the package. Please allow at least 60 days lead time.
