★★★★★
"The Northern Lights Ranch glass cabin was the highlight, on the second night the sky cleared and we watched green aurora dance from our bed without going anywhere. The kids woke up and refused to sleep. The photographer captured the best family photo we've ever had."

"Ice Karting at Levi and the Ruka Coaster were more fun than expected, the kids loved it. And at Santa Claus Village they arranged a private meeting with Santa so we didn't have to queue. The trip was full of activities but never tiring because it was well paced."

★★★★★
"Husky sledding at Ranua and seeing real polar bears made it so worth it. Three bases, Levi–Ruka–Rovaniemi, let us see different sides of Finland without repetition. Every hotel was warm, comfortable, and well located."

FAQ, Finland

Common questions

Is the aurora guaranteed?
No, the aurora depends on the KP index (a measure of solar activity), sky clarity, and luck. The highlight of this trip is two nights in the Northern Lights Ranch glass cabins at Levi, where you can watch the lights from bed when the sky is clear, plus four more nights in Lapland (Ruka + Rovaniemi) above the Arctic Circle. Guides use live KP forecasting to time outings. No operator can guarantee the aurora, be wary of anyone who does.
Is this trip suitable for children?
Very much so, it's one of the trips kids love most: Ice Karting (with kid-friendly karts), ski/snowboard with instructors, the Ruka Coaster, reindeer sledding and meeting Santa at Santa Claus Village, husky sledding and Arctic animals at Ranua Zoo. Every activity provides full cold-weather and safety gear, and the pace is designed so no one gets too tired.
What is the Northern Lights Ranch glass cabin like?
It's a standalone 5-star cabin (Aurora Cabin / Sky View) at Levi, with large glass walls and ceiling facing the sky, and a bed positioned to look straight up. It has heating, a private bathroom, and a high degree of privacy. Set away from city lights, the sky is deeply dark, perfect for watching the aurora from inside your room.
What if I can't ski?
No need to worry, both Levi and Ruka have beginner slopes and instructors (add-on available). For those who'd rather not ski, there's plenty else to do: Ice Karting, the Ruka Coaster, husky/reindeer sledding, and Santa Claus Village, so everyone in the group can enjoy the trip their own way.
What are Santa Claus Village and Ranua Zoo?
Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi straddles the Arctic Circle, photograph yourself crossing the Arctic line, meet the real Santa, send a postcard from Santa's post office, and try reindeer sledding. Ranua Wildlife Park is the world's northernmost Arctic zoo, home to polar bears, wolves, and lynx in natural surroundings, with husky sledding on offer.
How cold is it, and what should I pack?
Winter Lapland runs -10 to -25°C (sometimes lower). We ask travelers to bring a base layer (e.g. Uniqlo Heattech), a down jacket, thick socks, a beanie, and gloves. Wanvela sends a full packing list 60 days ahead and can help source snow suit/boots/balaclava. Most snow activities lend thermal cold-weather gear on site.
